Battle of Momplitz: Prunkland v Borscht
Following the Battle of Kwitzelwitsch,
the Czar of Broscht clearly wanted to avenge that defeat. He assembled
a strong force of infantry and cavalry, then gave command to Marshal
Stefan Gillski, who turned west to make a determined thrust towards
the heart of Prunkland, parallel to the River Bieber. Just south
of Adelschlag, Gillski ran headlong into a hastily-assembled force
determined to cut off the Borschtian march. Heavy on cavalry, but
low on infantry, General Von Blasen arranged the forces of Prunkland
between the villages of Blauingen on the left, which stands atop
a low ridge, through Momplitz in the centre, to Kurzwitz on the
right. Oppostie them, down a long, shallow slope to the valley,
came the forces of Borscht. On their right, opposite Blauingen,
at at the crest of the rise, stood the village of Humsdorf, and
at the foot of the slope to the left of their position is the hamlet
of Pomfritz. The air was heavy with expectation as the sound of
tramping feet echoed through the pre-dawn mists...
