Next step was to just splosh Citadel Dark Flesh, which is rather like a chestnut brown, over the flesh areas of the figures. Do not worry about overspill at this stage. I tend to dilute my
Citadel acrylics about 50/50 with water, but you can experiment for the consistency that suits you best.

Once this is done, leave to dry, though with a unit this big, the first ones were completely dry by the time I reached the last figure!

In the background you can see some of my uniform drawings in the Wars of the Faltenian Succession journal. If you're painting historical uniforms you will naturally have your
Ospreys or whatever to hand. A book stand like the one shown is very useful -- explore the kitchen sections of department stores, because you can find cookery book stands
that are even splash-proof, as well as keeping your pages open.
