Next step
was to just splosh Citadel Dark Flesh, which is rather like a chestnut
brown, over the flesh areas of the figures. Do not worry about overspill
at this stage. I tend to dilute my
Citadel acrylics about 50/50 with water, but you can experiment for the
consistency that suits you best.
Once this is done, leave to dry, though with a unit this big, the first ones were completely dry by the time I reached the last figure!

If you're painting historical uniforms you will naturally have your
Ospreys or whatever to hand. A book stand like the one shown is very useful
-- explore the kitchen sections of department stores, because you can find
cookery book stands
that are even splash-proof, as well as keeping your pages open.
